Foraging in the forest
Location is important when it comes to superb honey and Skull Mountain Apiary is located in a pristine area that produces some of the best honey in America. Tucked away in the Nantahala Forest you will find our hives on the hillsides where our Honeybees forage in a natural environment that is unspoiled and has been for centuries.
Our beginning..
What started as a hobby turned into someting more when failure met fate as my first year attempting beekeeping was a total disaster. Failure turned into inspiration and now we are a small apiary producing some of the best honey in the world that comes from the beautiful Smoky Mountains.
Help us save the bees..
Your proceeds produce more bees as we invest the profits from our honey sales back into our bee yards. The number one goal is to grow our apiary by producing the best honey so we can continue to expand our operations.
The end result..
The end result from our Honeybees hard work is a one of a kind honey that is raw and unfiltered bringing you all of the benefits of what pure honey brings. Nothing added and nothing taken away just raw honey the way it is supposed to be. Limited quantities available.

Skull Mountain Sourwood Honey
The sourwood tree is native to the Appalachian area but can be found as far south as Alabama. It blooms in mid June and the white flowers on the tree will remain until mid August. It is visited by many pollinators including the Honeybee. The primary source of nectar for this honey comes from the sourwood tree. This is a light amber honey that is smooth with a fine finish. Some of the finest Smoky Mountain honey you will find.
Skull Mountain Wildflower Honey
When spring arrives and our bees are busy building their colonies all of the nectar is used for feeding the brood and building the colony. In mid June we harvest the wildflower honey just in time for the beginning of the sourwood flow. The foragers have hundreds of choices of nectar to choose from and this year the tulip poplar seems to be the primary source of nectar for our wildflower blend. It produces a dark amber robust honey with a smooth finish that has all of the benefits that raw honey has to bring. A true taste of the forest in more ways than one.
